Parents tell it how it is!

Often the most effective way to change things for the better is to gather evidence from people who have direct, everyday experiences of the key issues.  This three-page Word document gives two in-depth stories from parents of young people with learning disabilities and includes a page of quotes from many other parents.

For professionals in the sector, we urge you read this document.  We feel sure the contents will help you in your work.  As for parents... we encourage you to read it too.  There will be themes that are familiar to you and that you might want to comment on.  Please do this by using the Contact / Contribute page of the website.

The following resource is also useful: Nottinghamshire County Council and NHS Nottinghamshire County asked IBK Initiatives to find out the views and experiences of disabled children, young people and their families using support services for children and young people with complex medical conditions and/or life limiting illnesses.

This concise four-page PDF publishes their experiences.  We know that your stories reflect the experience of many other families.
